Due to the nature of wireless signals, the effective range of the Secure Access Point will vary depending on the location’s layout. Obstructions including walls, ceramic tiles, metal structures, heavy equipment, other signal producing devices, etc. can alter the distance that equipment can effectively connect. To optimize the chance of a strong connection, please consider the following.
Though the effective range will vary, we rarely see any signal issues when the SAP is located within 45 feet of the equipment. In test scenarios, connection at 84 feet has been demonstrated.
Please locate the SAP outside of any locked cabinet when practical.
Position the SAP as close as possible to the equipment.
Ideally, the SAP would be near the center of the facility to connect equipment in potential future installations.
When possible, avoid placing the SAP in a place where it can be easily unplugged or knocked down.
When installing, please double check that the Ethernet cord is attached to the port furthest from the power cord on the back of the SAP.
