Boston, MA, September 12, 2017 – Powerhouse Dynamics, creator of the SiteSage® platform, announced today the release of major new functionality that expands the system to better enable the “smart connected enterprise”. SiteSage connects, monitors, analyzes, and controls equipment to better manage assets, operations, and energy enterprise-wide. The platform is used by hundreds of major retail, convenience store, and restaurant chains across North America and beyond.
“The new capabilities improve equipment integration and control, enable customers to streamline operations, and deliver requested functionality to customers,” said Jason Roeder, who is Senior Director of Product Management for Powerhouse Dynamics. “We’ve rolled out enhancements to all aspects of the platform, including the enabling hardware, the equipment integration layer, the cloud-based user interface, and the mobile app, increasing capabilities while, in some cases, reducing costs.”
Hardware upgrades include an update to the SiteSage IoT Gateway, the platform’s core “Edge Device”. With a more powerful processor and additional memory, the IoT Gateway supports numerous integration protocols, retains data longer in case of communications outages, offers Power over Ethernet (PoE) to minimize the risk of power interruptions, and supports a new 915MHz radio that delivers longer-range communications.
The new radio enabled the release of the WiTemp+, a low cost wireless temperature sensor that can also support a door sensor or pulse counter. The WiTemp+ is a core, self-installable component of the SiteSage Smart Kitchen food safety functionality.
A new, lower priced version of the SiteSage SmartControl that automates equipment and lighting on/off schedules was also introduced. This version eliminates the need to install costly contactors in many cases, and directly integrates with sensors to avoid the latency of cloud communications.
The SiteSage customer portal now offers enhanced benchmarking and filtering, enterprise alerting, and automated savings analysis with weather normalization. Several new alerts have been added based on customer requests, including a new “Mechanical Failure” alert for HVAC equipment.
The SiteSage mobile app sports an entirely redesigned user interface, including new functionality such as support for asset inspection tasks. Workflow capabilities for managing food safety were significantly enhanced based on customer input and an enhanced support task grouping, allowing task list customization by location. The app also now allows not only real-time changes to HVAC settings, but also the creation of enterprise-wide schedules.
The SiteSage Integration Layer, which enables direct integration with HVAC, kitchen and other equipment, was enhanced with an expansion of the Modbus® software developers kit (SDK) that enables rapid integration with any Modbus device, and support for direct connection of OEM equipment from a LAN to the SiteSage cloud.
Finally, to better support the growing number of manufacturers integrating with SiteSage, a new OEM Portal was released to enable manufacturers to more easily see their equipment across multiple customers.
Together, these significant advances in the SiteSage platform will enable customers to integrate, control, and monitor a broader range of sensors and equipment.
