Boston, MA, September 20, 2016 – Powerhouse Dynamics, creator of the SiteSage® enterprise asset and energy management system, today announced that it has been honored with the 2016 MassTLC Best Use of Technology: Internet of Things award. Presented at the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council’s 19th annual gala in Boston, the technology leadership awards from the state’s foremost technology trade association honor “trailblazers of Massachusetts’ technology economy”.
The MassTLC Technology Leadership award winners were elected from among over 300 strong nominees. Other finalists for the IoT award included juggernauts PTC and LogMeIn, along with VoltDB (architected by 2014 Turing Award winner Dr. Mike Stonebraker) and Beechwoods Software.
“For over 400 years, the Massachusetts innovation legacy has been characterized by tackling big problems and each year at the MassTLC Leadership Awards Gala we recognize the people and organizations that enrich that proud tradition,” said Tom Hopcroft, CEO, MassTLC. “In 2016 I’m proud to include Powerhouse Dynamics among the Tech Leadership Award winners whose contributions to the state’s technology economy help make our region the envy of the world.”
Powerhouse Dynamics won for SiteSage, a comprehensive solution that fully leverages the Internet of Things. In particular, the award honors the company’s achievements in food safety. The SiteSage Smart Kitchen platform combines factory integrated kitchen equipment, including refrigeration and cooking equipment, locally installed sensors, a mobile app, and cloud-based analytics to ensure operational efficiencies and enhanced food safety, consistent product quality, and reduced product shrinkage. The application produces automated food safety reporting and alerts, freeing staff from clipboards and manual temperature recording. SiteSage is installed in thousands of restaurants, including all 1,000+ company-owned Arby’s locations.
Alex Wolfe, Supervisor, Equipment R&D and New Technology for Arby’s Restaurant Group, said, “SiteSage’s Smart Kitchen module combines a mobile app, fixed sensors, and direct integration with our critical kitchen equipment that not only helps us address food safety issues but also provides a unique capability to enhance the performance of our kitchen equipment through access to advanced diagnostic data.”
In addition to helping to protect food safety and product quality, SiteSage has helped Arby’s achieve a reported 15{9e9e99e0aa33304967f3b3f95b41a9c8b857afbbbf6b3eae28bf86859e197ae9} energy reduction in company-owned restaurants while also achieving significant water savings.
In accepting the award, Powerhouse Dynamics CEO Martin Flusberg thanked SiteSage Smart Kitchen customers, “who have worked closely with us to build something that solves a major problem for them: managing food safety reliably, remotely and continuously at thousands of locations. We are turning the promise of the Internet of Things into reality at restaurants and convenience stores every day, driving practical change with cutting-edge tools.” Flusberg gave a special shout-out to Arby’s, who also recently awarded Powerhouse Dynamics the 2016 Red Hat award for Innovative Supplier of the Year.
SiteSage, in use at thousands of restaurants, convenience stores, retail stores and other small commercial facilities across North and Central America, combines enterprise-wide equipment controls with granular monitoring and patented analytics to deliver the type of benefits realized by Arby’s. The SiteSage IoT platform is factory-integrated to connect equipment to the cloud from a growing number of HVAC, refrigeration, oven, fryer, irrigation, and other manufacturers.
